Playing put-put at the campground

They literally squeezed us in between two other campsites just for the one night. Nice people. This was about the fifth place we called to find a place that night. Friday's are busy near the RV capital of the world!

One of the holes in put-put was a toilet....
After a night in Illinois at a RV park somewhere in there, we made it to Detroit by around 6pm. We picked up a new AC compressor on the way at Camping World. Hopefully this will do the trick. We had a fun BBQ and swimming with Emily and her boys at Grosse Pointe Pier Park just outside of Detroit on Lake St. Clair. It is beautiful up here with lots of flowers, gorgeous homes and great weather. I won't let the summer fool me, though. It's winter for a good six months up here! When we got here, I actually went for a run to the park so I could get some exercise in since I had been sitting most of the day. The night before, the kids got some sprints in. Wyatt and Scotty need to get into running shape for soccer. The season will have already started by the time we get back. Atalie needs to stay in shape for dance and Cozette just likes doing sprints and wants to stay fit. I'm so thankful for an active family who want to be healthy.
We enjoyed bratwurst with sauerkraut and Michigan "bumpy" cake. Tomorrow, Emily and I will go for a run and then I hope to try a yummy pastry shop before we head down to Kirtland. Seems a little counter productive to run then eat sweets, but life is meant fro enjoyment for sure!
After a a spiritually fulfilling sacrament meeting, we came home to change then drove around to see some sight of Detroit. It's crazy how parts of the city are literally crumbling and some parts are looking pretty because people are trying to do their part to revive it. We drove past the old Packard plant which is totally crumbling. It was amazing to see the remnants of this once booming city to now. I've never seen anything like. You'll have a good house, then one next door that's totally burnt out. You'll see lots filled with grass and queen ann's lace that used to have homes in it. It was quite fascinating.

Nice homes on Grosse Pointe that I got run past on my run. The lake is just on the other side of the road, so these homes get to look out toward Canada.
