Washington Road trip August 14-23, 2010

To save myself the time and frustration of trying to get these from in order, you'll have to scroll to the bottom to see the start of our trip. Overall it was a great trip. A LOT of driving, but fun. If we had to do it again, we would take more time to get up there so we wouldn't have to drive about 8 hours each day. But we still saw some great sites and more importantly got to be with great people!

We stopped at a rest stop to have dinner for Cozette. She wanted Mac and Cheese! This was the best we could do since we were still about 2 hours away from the KOA we were spending the night at.
Mount St. Helen's was worth the stop and the video you see of the volcano erupting! Just amazing!
Cozette wanted a stop watch for her birthday. Kelly was so nice to do the birthday shopping for me while we were at Fort Flagler. Thanks Kel! You made Cozette feel very special!
Having abelskivers for dinner at Kelly's since we left fairly early the next morning. She was the best hostess ever!!

Down at the far end of the building was our kitchen where we cooked all our meals and had game tournaments for "Hand and Foot", Settlers of Katan and we had one outdoor game called Kubb that Jeremy and I won! It is a Scandinavian throwing game that was very fun.

Can you tell that Cozette took this picture? We went for a bike ride around the fort to get a little exercise. The girls went back after one part, so me and Scotty did some further exploring on the other side of the peninsula.

We stopped above Willits at the "drive-thru" tree. Of course we were way to big to go through it, but we enjoyed the stop. The girls and I are suckers for gift shops as well. Although I don't usually buy anything. I just like to look at all the treasures!

Watching movies on the itouch was a big hit in the van. They also loved the bags and snacks that Nana made for them with coloring books, games, etc...I'm so grateful that she's so creative!

Bass Lake Aug 9-11

I know this is out of order, but I am finally trying to catch up from our summer. After Mette's wedding, we went to Bass Lake for a "Lassen Family Reunion" which turned out to be mostly my siblings, Uncle Peter, Joel, and Josh and Marci! But we had a great time with those of us that were there! The lake was so nice and it wasn't too hot. It was also just nice to relax after a hectic wedding week. We thought we were a little crazy because we got up to Bass Lake on a Monday, left on a Thursday, then packed up our trailer on Saturday and started our long drive up to Washington, which I will post about next! So here are a few pictures of our trip. We did get to rent a patio boat and some waver runners thanks to Uncle Peter's generosity.

Jeremy wanted to try out his new toy on the lake. It was so stable, that even Trine who was 6 months pregnant could use it with no problem. I'm sure the ocean would prove a different story!

Scotty's 2nd Birthday

He LOVES the guitar that Gramp's picked out for him. He plays it all the time! Thank goodness it has an on/off switch! Thanks Dad!


This cake was so yummy. It was a caramel apple cake with caramel drizzled over the top. So moist and the honey crisp apples were so good!

Here are a few pictures from Scotty's birthday. We celebrated on the 26th so we could have Gramma and Gramps over. Erik surprised us, too, and flew down just for the occasion! Actually I think he needed dinner on Sunday since Cristin was out of town!!

Scotty's Broken Leg

I'm sure most of you saw this on facebook, but I thought I'd put it here on the blog: Scotty broke his leg, or rather, Wyatt broke Scotty's leg. Poor guy! He was at the bottom of a slide at the park, a little slide, mind you. Wyatt wanted to come down it, so he did and crashed right into Scotty! I don't know if it broke on impact or when he hit the ground. Wyatt is the new "Man of Steel" so it makes perfect sense that him crashing into to Scotty would break his leg! Wyatt did feel bad. He is really such a good older brother. I pretty much knew right away that it was broken. Scotty wouldn't stand on it and kept crying. I took him right away to the doctor, they sent us to the X-ray place, got x-rays and had to wait a couple of hours for the results. We got the x-rays and sure enough, there is a hair line crack on his right Tibia near his ankle. Fortunately it isn't anything serious, but we didn't get a cast on it until the next morning. We had to wait about 2 1/2 hours for the orthopedic to get out of surgery. He was very nice and reassuring. So now he has a cast on for another 2 weeks at least. It's starting to drive him a bit crazy. I'm sure it's itchy! He is very adaptable, however and crawling around and wearing his cast out! He's such a good boy and happy. Every time you ask about his injury, though, he'll lovingly stroke his cast and say "Bubba" that's what he calls Wyatt!

Atalie's Baptism

Our sweet Atalie turned 8 on July 21 and was able to be baptized on August 7 with her cousin Addy and Addy's cousin Tabitha. It was a very special experience to see our sweet girl be baptized by her dad and then confirmed a member of the church, by her dad as well as her uncles, Gramp's, Pappy and cousin Ben. We loved having everyone who came there and are so grateful for the example Atalie is setting for those around her. She is a good girl and wants to be like the Savior. I love her very much and we are so grateful she is part of our family!
